Jamie tries to explain beer brewing even though she only half understands it

Left has a open flame under it with water in it, right has wheat grain thingies in it with an iron coil in it. The heated up water flows through the tubes using the engine at the bottom left of the picture (it has a bag over it to prevent it from getting wet and damaged.) The right tub is insulated to keep it at the same temp.

Dad says that this has to be at a certain temperature so he's mixing it to keep the temperature consistent and measuring the temperature. You can see the iron coil here too, it has holes in it so that's where the water flows to.

I didn't quite understand this part buut from my understanding he's getting all of the water that the wheat was sitting in into the left pot.

See that's what it looks like after he's moved all of the water around... or at least I think that's what he did.

Now this part, I actually get. The propane tank heats this up and here he's boiling the hops. All of them have certain amounts of times that they need boiled, anywhere from 60 minutes to 15 minutes. So we threw in the 60 minute ones right away, and then later on added the 45 minute, 30 minute, and 15 minute ones.

This is dad throwing in the 15 minute boiling hops. I measured out all of the hops and I regret not taking a picture of my amazing measuring skills. Seriously I am fabulous at measuring things.

We had to boil it up and then cool it down REALLY QUICKLY so I had to spray water at the base of the container to help cool it down. This is what we ended up with after it had boiled and then cooled down.

And then it went in dad's shop to sit around with a big old lid on it. Dad said that the next step after that is refrigeration and fermentation.
